GST & credit notes

GST and credit note reconciliation, without the spreadsheet

Returns become credit notes, credit notes affect GST, and GST has to match what was filed. DFIE connects all three to the deliveries that caused them, so the numbers agree before filing time.

Credit notes matched to what actually came back

Pick the picklist, and DFIE lists every invoice on it with a return. Credit notes — typed in or uploaded — are matched to each invoice, and every returned invoice must be covered before the batch can be submitted. Any shortfall goes to the Delivery Executive as a return value shortage.

Companies that revise the bill instead

Some principals don’t issue credit notes for returns — they revise the bill. Set that per company, and Accounts enters or uploads the revised bill amount for each returned invoice instead. The same reconciliation and approvals follow, and reports use the revised amount.

GST Sales Register, matched line by line

Upload the GST Sales Register you filed. Each line is matched on invoice or credit note number and amount.

  • Matched, mismatched, and what is only on one side
  • Output GST from the register’s own tax figures
  • Missing invoice numbers in each bill series, month by month
  • A clean period can be locked so it stays closed

Used by: Accounts, Admin, Delivery Executive

Common questions

What if a company revises the bill instead of issuing a credit note?

Set the company to “Revised bill”. Accounts then enters or uploads the revised amount for each returned invoice, and GST reconciliation matches against the revised amount.

What if a credit note is less than the return?

The difference becomes a return value shortage, which the Delivery Executive must approve before the batch closes.

Which GST file do I upload?

An Excel or CSV export of your GST Sales Register, with or without a tax-slab breakup.
